Bruno Sacco was the designer for this particular model- R129 and it was so popular that it remained in production for over 10 years. The era when new technology was introduced instance electronically controlled damping (Adaptive Damping System ADS, optional) and a hidden, ABS brakes. The R107's somewhat dated rear suspension with semi-trailing arms gave way to a modern multi-link axle. The number of standard features was high, with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and hydraulic convertible top. This car is in a dateless Mercedes Brilliant Silver with a darker silver lower half. One of those classic 1990’s colour ways. As standard equipment on the SL, it does come with the detachable hardtop roof.

The rear of the car remained very classic Mercedes SL with the broad box shaped rear and the distinctive striking grooved rear lights.

Notice the design remains similar to all the previous SL models with its sleek lines, without a braking line from the roll bar (which deploys up 0.3 seconds on a crash or roll). This era played an important time for car manufacturing and safety hence why the designers at Mercedes devised a roll bar which was retractable but keeping the traditional lines of the car. The overall condition of the car is very presentable, honest and original. Common to most body symptoms on Mercedes cars are the arches. All in good order except the front driver’s side wing with slight bubble, treatable easily repairable.

The 6-cylinder engine cars were claimed to be the easier ones to own. This car has a 2.8 litre 6-cylinder engine producing 193bhp with a 4-speed dual range gearbox.

A classic combination with the silver body with navy-blue (5070 colour code) leather interior with ruffle leather door card inserts and matching carpet. Along with a navy-blue canvas roof.

The driver’s seat has some wear usually on the driver’s bolster, just an honest car and easily replaceable part section from Mercedes or a reputable trimmer.

Trimmed in blue matching the rest of the interior, with wooden center console and original period correct Blaupunkt Oslo Rcc 24 stereo and a spec’d flip-up wind deflector.

The SL has always been renowned as a 2+2 seat coupe.
