Welcome to another popular Porsche Boxster listing, an affordable entry into the 2-seater sportscar if not Porsche ownership.
The second-generation Porsche Boxster had a very hard act to follow when it arrived in 2005. The original (codenamed 986) was a pretty radical machine when it was launched in 1996, providing a cheaper alternative to the legendary Porsche 911 while thrilling enthusiastic drivers with its mid-engined handling.
Alternative you say, but the Porsche Boxster was regarded to the less minded if not ever driven critics as the ‘poor mans Porsche’ just like the Porsche 912, 914, 944 and 924, but surprising to many these cars have a fantastic chassis with great weight distribution. The front/rear weight distribution 46.0/54.0 %, a low center of gravity, near-perfect weight distribution, and neutral handling.
Having followed the Porsche Club racing through the years the Boxster proves it is capabilities against the 911 brother.
Here at Norman’s Pond we present a fantastic mid-engine 2007 Porsche Boxster 987 2.7 in Basalt Black Metallic which is very good for its age considering the car has seen 76,100 miles. The car has been enjoyed mainly in Europe as the current owner is a keen driver of European trips away. First registered 1st September 2007 from Porsche Centre Leeds.
These cars have aged very well; the car was built to be more affordable yet provide the owners with the feeling that they still owned a Porsche. Certainly, a lot of Porsche for the money and what a Porsche 911 was and should be, unfortunately the 911 increase in size and weight. The 987 model Boxster had revised styling included modified headlights, larger side intake vents and enlarged wheel arches to allow wheels up to 19 inches in diameter (which this car has the optional 19” Lobster Claw alloys). Interior revisions included a more prominent circular theme for the instrument cluster and cooling vents.
It is no different at the rear, the classic Boxster style remains with the rear haunches covering the rather wide rear wheels and the centre exit exhaust remains original.
Porsche have definitely created another timeless body shape with the Boxster, stem from 356 speedster and 550 Spyder. Now in its 4th generation and it can be seen right through the cars DNA how this shape has remained.
Under the bonnet of this car you will find the 3.4 Litre Boxster S engine producing 295bhp, more than enough for the British Roads and enough to push this car beyond 170mph, talk about getting bang for your buck. The base engine is a 2.7L 176 kW (239 PS; 236 bhp) flat-six boxer engine, with the Boxster S getting a 3.2L 206 kW (280 PS; 276 bhp) engine. For 2007 the base Boxster received a revised engine featuring VarioCam Plus, the Boxster S engine was upgraded from 3.2L to 3.4L.
The interior is simple and functional with its 3 dial clocks just like a Porsche 911. A modern leather interior with subtle hints of graphite grey trim and the highlights of matt silver on the important parts of the car such as the clocks, door handles, etc. All in very good condition for its age and looked after by previous owners.
The seats are in good order and the leather remains firm on the bolsters and the perforated centre sections. Trimmed in grey stitching with optional Porsche pressed crests on the head rest.
The dash is in great condition, all dials work and there is no pixilation on the digital clocks and factory option PCM2 Sat Nav. screen.
This car is a 2-seater convertible coupe
Take your pick, being mid-engined a car with 2 boots, surprisingly rather spacious with a deep front trunk and a wider flat rear boot space, the engine is cleverly sandwiched under the hood behind the driver and the boot. 4th August 2009 intermediate maintenance at 18060 miles by Porsche centre Leeds 14th October 2011 full maintenance at 39042 miles by Porsche centre Wilmslow 9th January 2014 intermediate maintenance at 44191 miles by A1 ORTOS specialist 28th May 2015 oil and filter service at 52190 miles by Porsche centre Bolton 11th January 2016 intermediate maintenance at 55500 miles by A1 ORTOS specialist 2nd May 2017 intermediate maintenance at 61113 miles by OCD Porsche specialist The private number plate “V55 POR’ and tracker is included with the sale of the vehicle.
